WHY

SPONSOR AN ORGANIZATION WHO KILLS ORCA WHALES?

How would it feel to be entrapped in a Tank?

Captivity is the number one leading death for orcas. The average longevity for orca's in the wild is comparable to a humans life expectancy of about 60-70 years of age. In captivity the average life capactiy is about 25 years of age.

The physical removal of whales from their home, family, and environment has detrimental impacts on how the mammal will react to this abduction. Orcas are family oriented, have long life capacity, and are intelligent. Orcinus orcas are cousins to dolphins and are the largest of their kind; males can weigh up to 22,000 pounds and females are slightly smaller, weighing up to 16,500 pounds (NOAA Fisheries). Knowing this, orcas are the largest animals in captivity without question. Dating all the way back to the 1960s, capturing’s have occurred toward the species of orcas, starting in Washington State and then later in the waters of Japan.

Whales in captivity are cared for by institutions who use them for their own profit and entertainment.

Being secluded into a concrete environment with only so many directions to swim towards and weighing an average of 8,000-10,000 pounds plays a massive role in the many causes of deaths orcas experience while in captivity. These creatures are used to being able to swim up to 100 miles a day with their families in the ocean. This does not happen in captivity. Rather than swimming approximately 100 miles a day, they are in small pool of water surrounded by concrete walls and metal gates.

DON'T ORCAS KILL PEOPLE?

THE MYTH BEHIND ORCAS IS THAT THEY ARE AGGRESSIVE AND KILL PEOPLE. THIS IS FALSE. THERE IS NOT ONE RECORDED DEATH RELATING FROM AN ORCA IN THE WILD. ORCAS IN CAPTIVITY BECOME AGGRESSIVE DUE TO MULTIPLE REASONS, SUCH AS BOREDOM, PSYCHOLOGICAL STRESS, AND THE ENVIRONMENT.

WOULD'T YOU THINK THEY WOULD STOP PERFORMING WITH ORCAS AFTER A TRAINER DIED?
YES, you would think that this organization would stop putting their trainers in water with an animal who is capable of killing someone. But sadlty we are mistaken because it took about 3 more deaths to get the government to make a law for trainers to not be in the water with an orca.

Here is an Orca at SeaWorld surrounded by cement.
